D-Wave and LG CNS sign non-binding MOU on quantum optimization in South Korea
D-Wave Quantum and South Korea's LG CNS signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to advance enterprise quantum optimization in South Korea and international markets. D-Wave CEO Alan Baratz and LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-Gyoon announced it onstage at D-Wave's Qubits Asia conference in Seoul. The companies say they intend to combine D-Wave's annealing quantum computing with LG CNS's mathematical optimization and systems integration expertise to build applications for manufacturing, telecommunications, finance and retail, and to pursue joint go-to-market opportunities. The stated goal is to move projects from proof of concept into production, with example uses including factory scheduling, delivery routing and resource allocation.
Why it mattersThe agreement is non-binding and describes intentions rather than delivered results, so no specific deployments or performance figures have been announced. It shows how quantum annealing vendors are seeking systems integrators to reach enterprise customers, according to the companies' press release.
